Mary is mother to three boys including a son who is one of the younger boarders at St Mary’s. He joined the school following a tribunal process. He has severe speech and language issues and relies almost entirely on signing and the communication device on his iPad to communicate.
She is a qualified teacher who has most recently taught French to 5-13 year olds. She has taught most subjects in state, independent and international schools. Alongside this she has pursued a career in children’s books and is currently developing her expertise with alternative communication systems.
She has recently been an actively involved governor of a Surrey Special School that achieved significant Ofsted improvement during her time as governor. She is a keen tennis player and sailor and has recently taken up cricket!
Using her varied experience, she sees her role as Chair of Governors to both support and challenge the leadership of the school, ensuring that it is a dynamic learning environment for all the pupils. She is passionate about the long-term success of St Mary’s.
Mary is the elected Parent Governor.
