St Mary’s School and College held their annual golf day at Highwoods on Thursday 28th September.

Local businesses, staff, governors and friends of St Mary’s teed off early morning for a day of golf. The weather was fine and dry.

Our winning team this year was a team known as ‘Available in HD’ and the day was a huge success with a fantastic total raised of just under £2,500.  Thanks go to everyone who took part, sponsored the event, donated prizes or helped on the day,

Whilst the teams were out in the sun enjoying a day of golf, our BTEC sports pupils did a brilliant job in helping to set up everything up for lunch, the raffle, some games and the auction.

As the teams returned to the clubhouse the pupils promoted and sold raffle tickets with first prize being a new BMW to hire for a weekend and took an amazing £510 in raffle sales! One of the pupils, Lewis thanked everyone for coming to support St Mary’s.

Competitors then enjoyed a ploughmans lunch, a game of Irish Bingo organised by St Mary’s governor John Cooper, a Heads ‘n’ Tails game organised by Reece Blackman and then engaged in some fun and interesting bidding for 22 donated items which went under the hammer.
